Lemon Pyle Brahma
One of the giants of the chicken world, The Brahma originally came from the Brahmaputra region of India where they were called the Gray Chittagong.
They were originally a utility breed much prized for their egg laying abilities and the original breed being a bird that could reach in excess of 14lb made it a good meat bird. Today it is much smaller than the early birds, but still a big bird, with cocks weighing in at approximately 11lb and hens in at 8.5.
Although it is a big breed the Brahma is a gentle giant, they are very calm and friendly to people, not being a flighty or skittish bird makes them ideal for families with children, and if purchased from a young age they do become very tame and like to be handled.
